The Mission of the Association Band and Orchestra Directors Aotearoa is to encourage and support the development and growth of instrumental music directors and conductors in NZ. Catering for: Schools, Community, Professionals.

The Association Band and Orchestra Directors Aotearoa is a constituent based non-profit organisation serving the needs of New Zealand’s community and school music students and it’s music directors.

• It aims to promote, foster and practice the art of training and directing Instrumental Ensembles,
• to promote public awareness and appreciation of Instrumental Ensembles,
• to provide the opportunity for any person to participate in the direction, training and performance of Instrumental Ensembles,
• to provide community access to the performance and demonstration of the work of Instrumental Ensembles,
• to present opportunities for the study of, tuition in and training in the art of directing, and a forum for the free discussion of all matters related to our Aims and Mission,
• to co-operate and affiliate with other agencies, individuals or others with similar interests to those of the Association,
• to pursue a standard of excellence in respect of all the Purposes and activities of the Association.

The Association of Band and Orchestra Directors’ Aotearoa (ABODA) aims to be New Zealand’s premier in-service support organisation for school and community band and orchestra directors, pledging ongoing commitment to the growth of music education and community music making throughout all areas of the country.
